SolarWinds hackers reviewed Microsoft’s source code

Microsoft, One of the most well-known targets of the alleged Russian-linked hacking group behind the recent SolarWinds InfiltrationOn Thursday, it was announced that spies had gained access to some of the company’s source code used to build software products.

The good news for the tech giant is that no harm appears to have occurred according to a Seattle-based company.

Microsoft wrote Thursday in: „We detected unusual activity with a small number of internal accounts, and upon audit, we discovered that one account was used to display source code in a number of source code repositories.“ An update On penetration. „The account did not have permissions to modify any code or engineering systems and our investigation also confirmed that no changes were made.“

The company said that in addition to its code, its investigation „found no evidence of access to production services or customer data“ and „found no indications that our systems were used to attack others.“

Microsoft did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Thursday.

Solarwinds said 18,000 customers were affected by the hack, including several Fortune 500 companies and several government agencies.

The massive operation was exposed earlier this month when cybersecurity firm FireEye revealed that it had been hacked. FireEye CEO Kevin Mandia said the attack was „carried out by a country with first-class offensive capabilities“.
